Change Me Oh God

“Change me oh God, make me more like you.”
Is the opening lyrics to the beautiful gospel song sang by Tamela Mann. And it’s a declare or plea that I often ask the Lord to do within me in my prayers. How I want to be more like you.
It’s something so easy to ask yet it seems like such a hard thing to do. We are easily motivated to make that change during Sunday service but after service that’s when the battle begins.
And YES this battle may look different to each other.
For some of us it begins once we finally look at our phone after service and read the “Hey let’s get drinks” texts from our friends in the group chat (even though we told God we were done drinking) , it begins once we get in the car and deal with the reckless drivers on the roads (even though we told God we were done swearing) , it begins when we go home and are being tested by the mouths of attitude filled children (even though we told God we would work on being gentle), it begins on Monday when we go to school and deal with our classmates (even though we told God would share our Faith ) for some of you it begins when you’re dealing with a partner (even though we told God we wanted to work on our anger).
My point is Daughter once we leave Church on Sunday and our spirits are full and feed. The devil will come to tempt us to try and revert us back to our old ways. The devil will use our weaknesses as a toy and play with it to mess with us.
But I want to practice and commit to God, I want to change, I want my light to shine I really truly want to be more like him but my life outside of church is really testing me. It seems it’s pulling me away from what I need to do to be like God.
“This is hard”
So the question is, “What do I do? “
Well Daughter the first thing you should do is acknowledge that you want to change. Congratulations you have made that decision, that’s why you’re reading this blog.
The second thing I encourage you to do is keep praying, keep reading your notes from church, keep reading your word! The Bible tells us that God draws near to those who DILIGENTLY seek him! SO EVEN IF you do slip up sis , know that God is yet with you he wants you to keep getting up when you get knocked down and keep trying. UNDERSTAND DAUGHTER that the devil sees you getting closer to God and he does not like that. The devils purpose is to kill, steal and destroy. (And my personal opinion) he’s jealous because even he knows if you get closer to God you will unlock a whole new level to you. He knows you’re powerful with God . Yes Daughter even the devil knows your worth. Don’t be discouraged, don’t beat yourself up, it’s fine! Keep showing up and the change that you want to see in you will happen. • I promise
